My father started preaching in 1968 with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, which is essentially Nazarene (there's been talk of a merger since I can remember). In 1983 he left the denomination and was ordained by the Southern Baptists, and still holds his ordination under, and through, them.

You'd have to have been present at his second ordination to appreciate the difficulty in getting a formerly Arminian pastor ordained in a Calvinist church.

My ancestors on my mother's side were Virginia planters, and were Anglican, but our family's membership in the church ended with that Civil War generation, and never picked up again. I have no idea why.

Well, at least neither one of us has been Pentocostal. That'd require some work.
