I've been digging through the blog that the story about the documentary came from, and its really worth a look for anyone interested in what may be going on out there, away from the glare of the west and (over) developed nations. Seems like the "third world" (term I have some trouble with) really get short-shrift when it comes to reporting of UFO sightings.
This lady has a ton of information.
I sent her an email on Ruwa, we'll see if she can fill us in any more.

I forgot all about the Michalak case. That one is fascinating. He stuck by it until the end, didn't he?

This is yet another one of those events, much like the one in Wisconsin where the guy was given oat cakes or some such thing, that almost seem to be theatrical in nature. It is as though these events are staged for the witness/participant and maybe the broader society as a whole. While on the surface the Michalak case looks like a guy out screwing around in the woods, when he, through pure chance, comes upon a "other worldly" craft. However, there are many areas where this can be contrived by whatever force produces such events and manipulated to reach a desired outcome. There just seems to be, in many of these sightings, a complete and utter breakdown between signifier and signified.

What if, in the case Michalak, one of his friends had great tickets to a football game that day, that he was going to offer Machalk but didn't because some little thing came up. In this hypothisis, Mic would have jumped at the chance to go to the game that day and put off his trip to the woods. Alas, three days before he would ever offer Michalk the ticket, the friend's auto engine caught fire and the tickets went up with his car. Thus, Michalk winds up in the woods at the appointed time to have his run-in with the craft.

Believe me, I know how upsurd this is. One can always second guess the lead-up to a "sighting". And even that exercise still leaves us empty with regard to intent. That said, if we accept even slightly that these are choreographed events, maybe the planning and stage management goes back a long way, motivated by something we cannot comprehend.
