New crop circles appear in Brazil - pictures, video, news reports

Hello everyone.
I live in the south of Brazil, in the capital of the state of Santa Catarina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Catarina_(state)), named Florianópolis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florian%C3%B3polis) (which, BTW, you should all visit - island, 42 beaches, twice named tourism capital of the Mercosul (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay).

Well, anyway, last weel all major news stations / papers / magazines of the state reported the formation of crop circles in a rural city nearby. The farms are all family owned and the people who work there are really simple. Many interviews were shown and no one seemed to know what the hell it was. Actually, in the first batch of interviews the people from those small cities didn't even know something similar had already happened in England a long time ago, and that it is usually related to UFOs.

A large number of people said they saw strange lights the night before, which seemed to touch the ground and then lift off, mostly without anu sound or noise.

The news attracted the attention of most UFOs hunters, including the editor of the UFO Brazil magazine, A. Gevaerd (http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ademar_Jos%C3%A9_Gevaerd , no translation available), who was on the Paracast a couple of times before. He conducted a series of tests and conceded interviews to major Brazilian TV networks. The matter became national in a couple of days. He says it is legitimate, not a hoax... which is actually hard to believe... but he seemd to be a reasonable guy on the show before...

I also saw an interview with a Brazilian physicist (sp?) who said that the circles were perfectly aligned to something and its diameter was perfect (guess we didnt need a MST on a DR to measure it) and that no machinery she was aware of was able to achieve the type of cut she saw.

The circles were made in wheat fields in 2 different cities in the same night.

ANyway, I've read some books on the subject and I've seen some hoaxes (actually, a lot of them). Hell, I even have a book with nothing but crop circle picures, all human made. But since those new ones seemed to grab everyone's attention in Brazil lately, and since it's actually really close to my home, I'm interested again on the subject.

Any thoughts on y our part?

And Gene & David, would you care to participate and maybe even ask your Brazilian guest if he has anything on the subject?? Maybe it would make for an interesting future show...

I havent read the text and Im definitely not an expert. That being said, I wouldnt be surprised if it was a hoax for the simple reason that it lacks the complexity of other supposedly geniune (non-hoax) circle.

Its quite a basic shape.

Argentina is pretty near here.. seems like something is definitely going on... maybe A. Gevaerd has something to say about it...
