Default Lifespan: Greys

this article had me wondering

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/he...-of-youth.html

does anyone recall from the genre any mention of the lifespan of a Grey?

i seem to recall, (Mr Streiber perhaps ?) some mention of them living till about 300 earth years, but that it was an "unnatural" span aided by some tech.

has anyone else read or heard about the supposed lifespan of these being ?

cheers
m

Depends who you ask and which "greys" we're talking about. According to some contactees they live for millenia, others say barring accidents they effectively don't die.

Can't recall the case, but 2-3 thousand Earth years I once heard. Not that that should have any weight.

There's no way to know: anybody who has a number could be making it up or delusional, or if they were given it by the aforementioned Greys themselves they may have been lying or misunderstood the question.

The only way to tell for sure is to hatch a few, raise them in their natural environment with all their natural needs accounted for and wait for them to die.

Tricky.

Thoughtette: the question as to how long they live implies they're alive...which might not necessarily be true, or not in the way we assume (I know that sounds like crap but I know what I mean).

I know what you mean too. We model the notion of ETI far too much in the image of ourselves, and things always get more interesting, at least for me when you wipe that slate clean and imagine the possibilities completely separate from what we understand. What if they're "alive" in the same sense that a virus is? Not technically alive, but still considered to be "existing".

I'm reminded of the "Alien Interview" video brought onto the scene by "Victor" years ago. You know, the one where it supposedly "chokes" and physicians enter the room attempting to help it. One of the claims he made is that they view death as merely a phase, and the body being a vessel is simply a container for physical existence. Where have I heard that before? Hmmmm.
