If people are still being abducted by aliens all of the time, why don't we hear about it so much any more? Is it because the story has been played out?

If people are still being abducted, how has the profile of their experiences changed?

How does Bud feel about the differences in the abduction experience he hears from his experiencers than those reported by other researchers?

Other researchers have told consistent stories of abductees being inculcated with eschatological imagary; is this occurring with Bud's people and, if so, how has it evolved over time?

To me the whole alien abduction thing is a great piece of folklore but it seems to have dried up in the past decade. No more books, no more stories, no more support groups, no more revelations.

I would expect the folklore to evolve along with the phenomenon, but perhaps it really was all just a fad?

I can answer some of your questions, and I'm willing to bet his views would be similar.

Yes, still reportedly occurring.

I still hear about abductions often.

Jacobs research indicates Hybrids are kinda doing the grunt work more nowadays and the greys stay more in the background. Do what you will with that.

There's no doubt folklore going on. But I'm equally convinced it's more than that.

I enjoyed the interview, though I did take some issue with how Mr. Hopkins spoke about Philip Corso.

It would be one thing to disagree with Mr. Corso, but I thought his comments calling him a “nobody” and basically a fraud/liar is disrespectful and flat out wrong IMO. I have the book myself and like anyone here who has read it, have issues with it and it’s long been discussed about the primary issues people have with the book.

Budd Hopkins though showed a serious lack of respect for Philip Corso. To discredit everything Philip Corso did in his military career is wrong and disrespectful. I am certainly one who enjoys the status of how our military is being used, but I am also not one to disrespect someone who helped defend the country during the Cold War era. It sounds like maybe Mr. Hopkins is allowing his personal politics speak for him, as he did mention he protested the Vietnam war.

I thought it was in poor taste.

Smile Re: Budd Hopkins on the Paracast

WHERE dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water rats;
There we've hid our faery vats,
Full of berrys
And of reddest stolen cherries.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim gray sands with light,
Far off by furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight;
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles,
While the world is full of troubles
And anxious in its sleep.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scare could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Away with us he's going,
The solemn-eyed:
He'll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast,
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.
For he comes, the human child,
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand.

The Stolen Child

My take...

Yes. There has been a noticed decline in the number of reports but they haven't stopped.

I think this falls into two overlapping situations:
1. The number has dropped for unknown reasons
2. Not much new is being learned from them so they don't make for interesting stories

Really, we're just hearing about the same old song and dance from the abduction reports, which isn't that interesting since they seem to have been going on for quite some time...

I agree somewhat.
Partially I think Hopkins concerns over Corso are logical.
However with Corso's claims that the pieces of the craft kinda just sat there in a drawer , I would ask Hopkins to consider this:
There were two crashes July 1947!
If the second craft was in better condition and the exact same model with the same kinds of parts then it's not AS unusual that some pieces might end up sitting around somewhere. Also Corso only had a few parts what if there were dozens of copies of these particular parts even just with one craft?
Also it is apparrent there maybe a few crashes in that time period, what if we are in possession of a few craft of the same model?
No one should assume that someone of ANY position would be told of the other ships, there's a good chance that they would not be told.
Compartmentalization of UFO information is extremely rigid.

If there is anything backing up Corso's claims.... Please post. I have looked for them, and cannot find. I'm talkin about et stuff now.

Stan, Budd, and Kevin, would LOVE for him to check out. I've spoke with them on this. If they were bias, it would be toward his spew not against it. So far, all you have is his anecdote and nothing relevant checks out. Especially his time machine. Anytime you have fat claims, and no evidence...... this may sound weird to some... but.... you can usually take it to the bank, it's BS. Yep. But for the woo woo. I am only 98 percent sure Corso is full of shit. Unlike you, who is 100 percent he's telling the truth, with very little to show for it.

I agree. One of the most respected research scientists in this area is Elizabeth Loftus (University of Washington). It is instructive to read some of her introductory papers on the subject (for example here ).

I am not saying that abductions are not occurring, clearly there is a phenomenon that deserves investigation - just that hypnotic regression is definitely not the way to study it.

Further, arising from comments in the latest interview, Bud Hopkins is deluding himself if he considers he has a highly developed "BS meter" - humans are particularly notorious in being able to sincerely believe in their own delusions.
