Hey all. I've got the chicken pox.
Hard to fricking believe. I had a very mild case when I was a little kid, and then two days ago, I broke out in what I thought were hives, but the crap just kept going. Went to the doc, and they gave me the news. I have the chicken pox. What bothers me the most about this, is that I haven't come in contact with anyone in the last two weeks, other than my wife. Not sure what to make of this.

What did the doctor think about you "catching" the pox?

Apparently, they are as dumfounded as I am. They're also looking into a possible gluten allergy.

Pox can be got from the air. It's rare that some one gets it twice, but it happens.
If bored, maybe check out wiki on it.

I hope it passes soon. I never had chicken pox as a child, but got it as an adult, German measles too. Chicken pox is not fun. If the itching becomes unbearable, try calamine lotion or ask your doctor for a mild hydrocortisone cream or lotion. Anti-histamine pills can also help ease the itchiness. Try to avoid getting too hot, and take tepid baths and showers - heat can make the itching worse. Also, try your damnedest to resist the urge to scratch - you could end up with iinfections or scarring, if you do.
Here are a couple of links that might help: http://www.medicinenet.com/chickenpo...ella/page2.htm http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/...chickenpox.htm

Jesus... isn't the pox dangerous in adults? Or are you semi-immune due to having had a mild bout before?

It's worse in adults. It can be deadly, but that is somewhat rare I hear.
