Its the math related to the cosmo constant and how exact it is therefore meaning either the universe had to have had a benevolent creator, or that there are just millions of universes popping off allover the place and we just happen to be in one of the habitable ones.
Modern day string theory also relies rather conveniently on lots of universes and dimensions neatly making the whole thing fit together.
Altho string theory is of course not proven, its just a theory that seems to fit and predict everything we observe

We're as real as thought.

Enstein's cosmo constant is related to but not a fined tuned universe.
Yea the math for this is done by a heap of people

Ok lets take a photo with the hubble, get some proof.

I soughta think if we can ever get any real grounding on the ufo field we may be able to answer some of these questions. Just a slight glimmer on the drive systems may give us some defined answers to the reality of the universe.

Whilst your statement is undeniably true, it is far more likely to happen the other way round... as in we learn the mysteries of the universe, and then put them into our interplanetary vehicles.
Even if we captured a downed craft (which i dont believe we have) I don't think we'd know what the hell to do with it.
These documentaries just show how little we actually know about the universe..... and how far we have to go before we start planet hopping.

I truly believe that if there are Aliens, they won't reveal themselves until Humans finally develop interstellar travel (like the romulans in that star trek movie when picard and his merry men all go back in time to stop the borg).
If I were an alien, thats what i'd do. If they landed and gave us all the secrets to the universe, i'm sure our society would implode, and I wouldnt be suprised if they had already done it before with another society and learnt from their mistakes.
All of this is just speculation of course as I dont even have any proof that Aliens exists!

I'm a star trek fan myself, but I can not see a "prime directive" happening in any real sense. Our day to day lives and our natural environment and process is the universe, It makes no sense that a alien speices would follow a prime directive rule, I wouldn't. Its getting to be pretty much well entreched in the main stream that life exist's in the universe in quite a few places, Why not start to ask for help from the stars in what ever way we can. On the topic of cosmology, one of the more famous guys is Dr Michio Kaku, His probabilty on our leap from a type-0 civilisation to a sustainable environment and energy type-1 civilisation is pretty dire indeed. Hell why not point our dishes out and say, well I think we need some help, any one keen to lead us a hand.

Alians coming down and giving us all the technology is like Stanton puts it, equivalent to giving a two year old a loaded gun. Any technology they gave us would be used to make military weapons, so why would they bother. Our society is too immature...
With regards to pointing our dishes out, not only would it really require a huge power source for the broadcast (unless anyone was specifically listening) but by the time it got there we will have annihalated ourselves if things are really so bad.

Going back to dark matter, there was me going on about how their theories are potentially flawed, rambling on and sounding like I knew what I was talking about, and then they go and bloody find the stuff.... right in the middle of my moment of forum glory!!!

Well all the technology is what? A flying disc or triangle with flashing lights.

Yea pointing dishes out is a simple way of looking at it, but asking for help to try and sought out our selfs better is a very human and natural way in which we live. You just don't keep walking along the beach if some one is drowning just off shore.

I'm sorry, maybe I've had a long day but i dont fully understand what you're getting at.
All the technology that the aliens have is bound to be more than flying dics and triangles, it could be millions of years ahead of us. And even if it was just triangles, i'm sure someone would find a military use for them.
Imagine if the aliens did land and start handing out technology all over the place, there would be the biggest arms race the world has ever seen, and then we would bring our world of carnage out into the rest of the universe and threaten all the other species.
Pesimistic, but just look at history or the state of the world at the moment.
And regarding leaving someone to drown, when a nature researcher/documentary maker see's an animal dying/drowning, he leaves them to die. Its not being cruel, but you just don't want to mess with the way things are...
