Very interesting, could it turn out that ufos, use this typeof method to cloak there ships to the human eye.

Now I wouldn't know if they cloak their ships in any way ... but what I do know (sort of a tangent building here ) is that John Hutchison of the Hutchison Effect fame was promising to recreate the Philadelphia Experiment this year I think.

He started small with a small plastic boat I seem to remember, and recounted his efforts on the podcast ghost program "Ghostly Talk" (http://www.ghostlytalk.com). This was about a year or so ago ... and as far as I know he hasn't got further than the small scale experiments.

But the idea was that he was going to try to get an old warship and set the whole thing up re: the myth ... which a year or so ago was such a cool idea that I nearly spontaneously combusted.

Anyway ... really cool idea I thought regardless of whether or Hutchison fakes the effects or not .

The reason why the UFOs vanish suddenly could be for a number of reasons (some or all of these may be totally poppycock )

1) the UFOs have changed their "frequency" as it were so they have moved into a part of the electromagnetic spectrum our eyes cannot deal with ... so they may still be there but in the infrared or ultraviolet part of the spectrum

2) they've "warped off" as in the warping effect in Star Trek

3) they've gone back to the dimension/universe that they came from ... so disappearing from this universe

4) they may have transposed themselves back into the dimension (as in 3rd dimension, 4th etc) that they normally exist in [same as 3 above???]

5) they may have gone forward or backward in time

5) and this one just came to me ... they may have some way of making themselves really small so that they effectively disappear

... that last one is a bit silly but who knows what "they" are capable of?

Having listened to one of your Podcasts recently, you had a Guest (forgot his name) who made it clear what the Philadelphia Experiment was all about.

It was all about Invisibility yes but not to the Human EYE but to Radar or more specificaly mines the ingnited on detection of an Electromagnetic field.

I think your guest co wrote the Corso book and his account was a retelling of a conversation Corso had with some Admiral.

This explanation seems highly plausible to me dont know the ins and outs but it was a good podcast. I think it was the 13th June 2006 podcast.

Degaussing is a process in which a system of electrical cables are installed around the circumference of ship's hull, running from bow to stern on both sides. A measured electrical current is passed through these cables to cancel out the ship's magnetic field. Degaussing equipment was installed in the hull of Navy ships and could be turned on whenever the ship was in waters that might contain magnetic mines, usually shallow waters in combat areas. It could be said that degaussing, correctly done, makes a ship "invisible" to the sensors of magnetic mines, but the ship remains visible to the human eye, radar, and underwater listening devices.
